It is with great satisfaction and joy that we present readers with the eighth issue of The Journal of Fundamental Rights & Justice. Apart from the excellent articles that make up this issue as well, we have the honor to inform that despite being a recent journal, that isn’t even three years old yet, the Journal of Fundamental Rights & Justice, as of the recent ranking carried out within CAPES (Foundation for Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) QUALIS system framework, was placed in the B2 level, which means that out of the 27 Brazilian law reviews evaluated at that time, our Journal was ranked within the top 6.

The good grade reflects the persisting collaboration of the academic community which has always sent us – and keeps sending – new and unpublished articles of great quality. With the present issue we total 79 articles published in only eight issues, aside from book and jurisprudence reviews.

On the other hand, the quality level now certified by CAPES also mirrors the good welcome among readers, which is attested by the significant number of subscribers, the absolute majority of which have renewed their adherence.

As for the authors that comprise the current issue, we count again on highly renowned foreign and national authors, as is the case of Jónatas E. M. Machado and Vera L. C. Raposo (Coimbra, Portugal), Paloma Requejo Rodríguez (Oviedo, Spain), Paulo Ferreira da Cunha (Porto, Portugal), Alexandre Coutinho Pagliarini and Leonardo Cesar de Agostini (UniBrasil - PR), Antonio Maués (UFPA), Fabrício Dreyer de Ávila (PUC - RS) and Orides Mezzaroba and Antonio Marcos Gavazzoni (UFSC). Representing PUC – RS Post-Graduation in Law Program, which hosts the Journal, we have articles by Professors Gilberto Stürmer and Eugênio Facchini and from J.D. student Daniela Lutzky, as well as a book review by Professor Carlos Alberto Molinaro.

However, despite our good editorial news, it is with profound regret that we inform of the passing of our colleague and friend Professor Joaquín Herrera Flores, of the Pablo Olavide University, Spain, on October 2nd of the current year. Therefore, as a deserved homage, we have inserted in the present issue a note by Professor Carlos Alberto Molinaro.

Without further ado, we renew the gratitude towards the reader for distinguishing our publication and wish a pleasant reading.
